I mustache you a question.

So yesterday was my birthday.
I turned 31.
Not as painful as turning 30, but I wasn't doing any cartwheels for joy.
I spent hours in thoughtful reflection of how the past year had gone.

Nope.
Not really.

I ate cake.
Ice cream cake.

TWO SLICES.

That's right.

You heard me.

TWO SLICES.

My wonderful family showered me with cards and lunch and of course ice cream cake.  I am loved and very blessed.

I thought I should write down a few goals I have for 31.  31 perhaps? That might be a tad excessive.

1. Drink more water.
2. Eat less sugar (looks like I already blew that one)
3. Try not to worry about germs as much (pretty sure this will never happen, I am freak of nature)
4. Make more people smile
5. Spend more time with my children playing
6. More crock pot meals
7. More leggings. But not as pants.
8. To quit trying to compare myself with other mamas
9. More evening walks
10. More bedtime stories

What are your goals for this next year?

Word.

People need to laugh more.
These are things that make me laugh.....
My children.
My reflection.
People who think leggings are pants.
People who take life too seriously.
My husband's high pitched girl squeal of a laugh.
My cars tires in winter weather.
Brody's resemblance to a flying squirrel.
Baylor's developing sense of humor.
The use of the word poop.
The overuse of cowbell.
Jimmy Fallon.
Brody's deep belly laugh.
When people push the pull door.
Improper use of grammar.
Those weird alien things on Sesame Street...you know, Yip yip yip, yaw yaw yaw.
Larry the Cable Guy (I know, I'm slightly redneck)
My driving in winter weather.
The fact that I can act my age but it's so much to act 14.
Planking.
Roses are red, violets are blue, I hate rhyming...penis.
Conan O'brien in Jeggings.
The fact that some people need a high five...to the face....with a chair.
Brody trying to explain something using his hands AND his face.
Those cute animal photos where people have added ridiculously amusing captions.

What makes you laugh?

Workin' girl

I would be the first person to tell you that being a mom and staying at home is more than a full time job.  Between cooking, cleaning, playing, disciplining, driving, organizing, laundering, teaching, feeding and caring for your house and family, the salary would be close to $130,000 a year.  Still waiting for my paycheck. Undoubtedly the best job I've ever had, I thought it would be fun to add two more jobs on top of that.  I'm never one to turn down a challenge. Doing the best I can at all three of these jobs just might kill me, but gosh darn it I will do it.

Since re-entering the working full time world, I have gained so much more respect for mothers who have been doing this the whole time.  I admired them before, but now I just think they deserve a medal of honor, stiff drink or a vacation.  It begins at dawn and ends late at night with a few hours of drug induced sleep in between.

I'm slowly learning the delicate balance of working outside of the home at a full time job that demands full time attention and then coming home and caring for my family.  I also thought continuing my art business (which by the way is doing amazingly awesome, thank you!) would be fun.....but it's taking up a lot of spare time...whatever that is.  I feel like I'm working three jobs.  Wait...I am working three jobs.

And don't even think about being sick.  There are no sick days.  Unless you are on your death bed, you have to function.  You have to drag your snot clogged feverish head out of bed to get two kids out the door and yourself to work.  Your mind never stops running....

"Did Brody put on underwear this morning?"
"What's for dinner?"
"Did I put underwear on this morning?"
"Did I put Baylor in the right shoes for P.E today?"
"Did I finish those art orders?"
"Did I pee?"

You leave a messy house only to return to a messy house.  Since you're not home all day, when you get home you have to do the things that need immediate attention......laundry, cleaning and most importantly spending time with your kids.  You may think cleaning doesn't require immediate attention, but if you know me, you know that a panic attack may ensue if a dirty house is under foot.

It's survival of the fittest...and the one with the strongest coffee.

I am slowly learning this dance, one clumsy step at a time.

Christmas Photos

No Christmas should be complete without fake mustaches!
 Digging out their stocking stuffers.
The ever so popular forced hug.
 "I LOVE this book!"
My favorite gift for Baylor! His very own Baylor Bears sweatshirt!
 Lonnie and his new shades.
Just double checking to make sure there aren't any more gifts back there!
Brody man and his new alligator sleeping bag.
 El Moustache!
At Grandma Lila's house with Papa Mike's glasses and hat on.
Christmas was a double thumbs up!
